Voice without Minutes!
GrooVe IP is an android app that connects to Google Voice using Voice over IP (VoIP). What this means for you is you can make free unlimited calls to any phone in the US or Canada without using your voice minutes. GrooVe IP works on any android device, phone or tablet, and allows you to make calls using the device’s data (WiFi or mobile data) connection. If you have a smartphone with Wi-Fi connectivity but no mobile plan, you can use this app to convert it to a free, full-featured working phone.
This app has a separate dialer that can be used to make calls. Alternatively, the native dialer, call-log, contacts, and favorite functionality can be shared between the phone and app on a call-by-call basis.
** NOTE ** Please ensure that your Google Voice account is associated with either a gmail or google apps account.
** NOTE ** To receive incoming calls you MUST go into your Google Voice account and forward calls to Google Chat.
** NOTE ** GrooVe IP uses 1.2 MB per minute during a call

I am not pleased with my purchase. The Groove IP integration into Android is outstanding. The only thing it could use is a recorder feature. I believe its the Codec that sucks. With a good wifi connection the audio is tolerable. On 4G it is terrible. I have a Samsung Vibrant T959V. I use TMobile in a good reception area. As a comparison I get make great calls using Skype on both WiFi and 4G. Please guys, work on the Codec.

Works sooo sweet with both my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0, as well as my son's Player 4.0. These Players do so much more than an iPod ever dreamed of!

Works as advertised flawlessly. Voice on the other end sounds a little robotic. Tried the audio processing option but it didn't help.

Works as stated! Old smart phone with no cell service just became a "home" phone with this app, a free Google Voice number and a WiFi connection!

Too many dropouts/glitches to replace regular wireless calls. Laggy response to dialpad during calls. Samsung Captivate, CM 7.1, at&t HSUPA.

I just downloaded this and it's the best! You can make calls with the android dialer and also with the app. Just sign in and go.

only down side i can see is that calls are no longer forwarded to my google chat.

This app works as advertised. Turns my Galaxy Player 5.0 into a phone when connected to Wi-Fi! I have a couple of suggestions: The dialer could use smart T-9 dialing (typing 3-2-8-4-3 brings up all "D-A-V-I-D" contacts). Also, add text messaging! (I know, this is probably a long shot.)

Won't even sign in... Used three different user names including my friends, and two different phones. Never worked. Give me my money back.
