TalkBack is an Accessibility Service that helps blind and vision-impaired users interact with their devices more easily.
This application add spoken, audible, and vibration feedback to your device. It is a system application that was pre-installed on most device and is updated when the accessibility service is improved.
This app is only activated if you explicitly turn on Accessibility.
Steps to activate Accessibility:
1. Go to Settings
2. Select Accessibility
3. (Android 3.2 and earlier) Enable Accessibility checkbox
4. Enable TalkBack checkboxes
5. (Android 4.0 and later) Enable explore-by-touch

Generally works fine, but the following need to be addressed: it should be automatically configured and activated when choosing to install it, it needs to have an option to be muted temporarily (without being turned off and on in the settings, i.e. a shortcut key or gesture), would like the option to have it muted when screen is off or locked, needs to be compatible with the menu options and alert boxes, would be nice if the controls to toggle between typing/navigating/hidden was not on the volume keys ...

Great app! @Scott just because you have a touchscreen phone, doesn't mean everyone does. There are android phones with keyboards. So stfu.

If you don't want Stock OS Apps on your phone, go write your own Operating System and install it. Otherwise, don't update if you don't need it.

You totally can uninstall this so long as you aren't retarded. But it works great if you need it. I just wish it'd read text inside of FireFox.

Can't delete and wont update. Needs to update to open. Never used it, don't want it and cent get rid if it!

It notifies that an update is available. Then says manual install... then I see "unavailable". Accessibility is disabled/unchecked on my Nexus S. WTF?

Just flag it as inappropriate EVERY SINGLE TIME you are asked to update. That will get their attention.

Even though this is an update for existing accessability features, I don't like that it was installed w/o my permission or that it was set auto-update
