Amazon Appstore Goes Live, Any Luck in Finding it?
Amazon has just opened the doors of its much talked about Amazon Appstore for Android apps. The app is available via the web as well as from the Android Market as a free download. And as previously reported, one of the launch apps featured on the said appstore is Angry Birds Rio which is currently available as a free download. After today, this will already be priced $0.99. And yes, the app is available only in the U.S., so don’t be surprised if you can’t find it now if you’re not in the U.S.
To promote Android apps, the Amazon Appstore will be offering one free app a day which as mentioned will be Angry Birds Rio for today. After this, the game goes up for $0.99 and this will be replaced by a new app. Take note that those which will be featured as a free apps are regularly priced apps.
In addition, the Amazon Appstore will also have a feature called Test Drive. This will allow you to try an app out before you buy it. This service is being offered via Amazon’s cloud services. You can test drive an app for 30 minutes after which you have the option to buy it or the app will be disabled.
Finally, the Amazon Appstore will also be recommending Android apps based on your purchase history. For instance if you’ve purchased arcade games before, the Appstore may suggest another arcade game the next time your log in to the store.
