Android 2.2 Software OTA Update Rolling Out to Motorola Droid Users

About a week ago, Verizon was supposed to start updating Motorola Droid devices with Android 2.2, but for some reason, Big Red stopped the update indefinitely. While it was supposed that the build would be modified and changed, it has not. Build FRG01B is the same as it has always been and if you still haven’t received the update, you can check your system updates to see if it is available. Keep in mind the update only started rolling out earlier today. Otherwise, be patient, because software OTA roll outs typically take at least a week for all customers to receive it.

Verizon might have stopped the OTA update for Froyo on the Motorola Droid because it wanted the Motorola Droid 2 to be the first phone to launch with Android 2.2 on board. Hopefully Android 2.2 works better on the Droid than it did for the EVO 4G.

About the Author

Currently, I live in the United States in the crowded, but enjoyable state of New Jersey. I first began blogging about technology in 2007, right on the precipice of the smartphone, netbook, and GPS boom. Not to mention Facebook and Twitter have started to become increasingly popular during this time period. In terms of Google Android, I have been privileged to test and review many different devices and among my favorites are the Samsung Epic 4G and the HTC Droid Incredible.
