Archos 70 Titanium the $119 tablet

We have to hand this to Archos; the company is really putting in a lot of effort in its tablet business. This CES the French company announced tablets for everyone, from the top expensive ones to the budget ones. Archos 70 Titanium is the latter, a budget tablet with an impressive build quality and an even impressive price tag. Archos 70 Titanium’s biggest selling point will be the price, which is an affordable $119.

The Archos 70 Titanium has an 7 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, this is not revolutionary stuff but at this cheap price who are we to complain. A 1.6 GHz Dual core processor, 8 GB of internal memory are also included. The Archos 70 Titanium also has a front facing camera, there won’t be a rear facing one though. Android version 4.1 Jelly Bean will be the tablet’s operation system.  We must admit this is quite an attractive deal especially if you consider the affordable price. Archos only had a non-working demo Archos 70 Titanium at CES so we are not so sure how well the tablet will perform. But a 1.6 GHz processor is usually enough to bear the burden.

The Archos 70 Titanium unlike many cheap budget tablets has an Aluminum body. The metallic chasses does feel and look great and when held gives off a premium feel which other tablets severely lack. Archos did cut some corners here, the volume rocker and the home keys are made out of plastic and are a constant reminder that Archos 70 Titanium is a budget device. There won’t be any 3G/4G connectivity available on the Archos 70 Titanium but you can find almost every other form of connectivity technology. There is also a convenient microSD card slot to supplement the 8 GB of on board storage. Archos 70 Titanium is a really great effort by the company, I for one will be keeping an eye out for the tablet.

One other Android tablet maker worth a look at in 2013 is Ainol Electronics – which recently introduced a number of impressive, well-priced Android tablets and is also noted for winning Runner-Up status for “Best Tablet of the Year” at CES/CNET 2012 —

One of the first resellers to carry the new Ainol – Novo brand tablets is a site called TabletSprint — and this week the Novo 7 VENUS launched — a 7 inch tablet with a QUAD CORE processor for only $149 that takes on the Google Nexus 7 and other competitors for a lot less and offers a lot more — with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, a high resolution 1280×800 IPS screen, 16GB memory, a 4000 mAH battery, both front and rear cameras, a MicroSD memory card slot for unlimited storage, Google Play with access to 400K+ Apps, a MicroUSB port for connection to printers and other electronic devices, HDMI – to view personal videos and to download movies and watch in full 1080p (HD) on to a large screen TV, WiFi, Ethernet, and an option for 3G/4G connection. It’s also a great gaming device with its high resolution screen and motion gaming sensor. The site TabletSprint also offers a 7″ Compact Case with built-in Keyboard ($22) which easily transforms a tablet into a mini-laptop–

TabletSprint offers a few other brand new models with most launching in January, including the Novo 10 Hero – a full-size 10 inch tablet packed with impressive features for only $219–

TabletSprint also includes $25 in quality Bonus Apps with all tablets available through their site…. both these new models and a few others are certainly worth checking out and comparing to other major brands.
