Facebook Android App Receives Massive Updates

As announced by Facebook yesterday, the Facebook Android app has just been updated bringing in several new features and a complete overhauled user interface with faster peformance. Actually, if you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, the Facebook Android app is now more similar in looks and features.

One of the new, key features of the Facebook Android app is the updated interface for photos and albums. The update makes it easier to share photos, view comments and edit captions. Photos and albums are also now two times faster than the previous version of the app.

Another change is the relocation of messages and notifications on top of your Android phone screen. This allows you to respond to friends and stay updated without leaving the page you’re on.

When accessing Facebook News Feed, Groups, games and apps, you can now see them on the new left-hand menu. This means that these features are now more accessible. This is similar to how the menus look in iOS devices.

The complete change log as published on the Android Market for the Facebook Android app is as follows:

  1. Navigate anywhere, fast: Get to your groups, apps, pages, and settings with a single press
  2. Search and you will discover: Look through friends, subscribers, apps, and pages
  3. See your friends tags on pictures and zoom: New photo viewing experience
  4. Faster notifications: Get alerted in real time with new push notifications
  5. Games & Apps: Play games and access your favorite apps on the go
  6. Access to mobile timeline (If you already have a timeline)
  7. Access to friend lists and subscriptions
The Facebook for Android app is available now as a free download from the Android Market.
