Finally, Instagram for Android lands in Google Play

By now, your news reader is probably plagued by the news about Instagram hitting Google Play. We really can’t blame, after all this app has been longed for by many, including myself. So finally the wait is over, and one of the most popular social photo app for iPhone is now available for Android devices running 2.2 or later. If this is your first time to use Instagram, you’ll love this app not only for the variety of photo effects that it offers but also for its nice social sharing features.

Instagram for Android is just like its iPhone counterpart as it lets you share photos you’ve taken, and post-processed using the Instagram filters instantly on Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and Foursquare. Flickr support is soon to follow.

The app will also let you follow other Instagram users, add comments to their photos and mark them as your favorites. Now, while the app may look good on your Android devices especially if you’re using the highly advanced Android smartphones with nice screen resolution, you’ll love the app’s overall design of its user interface.

There are however some features which Instagram did not get. Specifically, the feature which lets you highlight a particular spot in your photo using square or circle pattern. This feature adds some depth to the photos and is great for taking macro shots of objects.

Aside from that, I can’t see much difference between Instagram for Android against Instagram for iPhone.

Still, the latest version of the app is great, and I’m pretty sure that in due time it will become as one of the top Android apps of all time.

Instagram for Android is available now as a free download from Google Play.
