Flipboard comes available for bigger Android tablets

Finally, six months after it was released for Android smartphones and smaller-sized tablets, one of the most popular and widely used magazine-style app is now available for larger-sized Android tablets measuring 7 inches or bigger such as the Nexus 10, Galaxy Tab series, and Galaxy Note 10.1. For those who haven’t used the app yet, Flipboard displays feeds from major social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter as well as other content providers including Vanity Fair and New York Times.

The new version of Flipboard also provides optimized page layouts for a variety of screen sizes and aspect ratios. It takes advantage of the wider screen of the larger Android devices and you can save more of your favorite sections as tiles as well as see larger story excerpts as you flip through the magazine.

Prior to this version, Flipboard was available for Android smartphones and devices with seven-inch screen including the Kindle Fire, Nook and Nexus 7. Although there was really no problem running the smartphone version of the app on 7-inch tablets, a version fully optimized for tablet was called for by many Android users. And so the folks at Flipboard has responded by way of this update.

All that being said, for those of you who are using the smartphone version of Flipboard on your Android tablet, your installation will be automatically updated and you will also be given the option to continue using the phone edition.
