Google Docs Gets its Own Android App
Google has just released the Google Docs Android app that lets you edit, upload and share via the Google Docs service using your Android phone. The app looks simple and yet very functional especially if you are using Google Docs a lot for creating, editing, and sharing documents. With Google Docs Android app it is now easier to filter and search for your content across all your Google account. You can then jump straight into editing docs using the online mobile editor, even while on the go.
Another nice feature of the app is the fact that it allows you to share Google Docs items with contacts on your Android phone, right inside the app. No need to exit and open the Google mobile web service. Google Docs Android app also lets you upload documents from your Android phone and open it directly from Gmail. The app also lets you add widget to your home screen to make it easier for you to jump to your starred Google docs files, take a photo to upload or create new documents.
Now, here’s the coolest thing about Google Docs Android app – it lets you turn photos with text that you’ve captured using your phone’s camera into editable Google documents. This was made possible through optical character recognition (OCR). You can take new photos or convert those you have taken previously by sharing them with Google Docs Android app.
Google Docs Android app is available as a free download from the Android Market.
