Google Reorganizes the Android Market Website, Now More Like iTunes

It‘s day two of Google’s I/O event and one of the highlights of today’s show is the huge announcement about the re-organized Android Market website. According to the Google Mobile Blog, it’s just about time that the Android Market is given a refresh especially since apps continue to grow since it was launched with more than 200,000 now available in the Market. The redesigned and re-organized Android Market will make it easier for you to find new apps, most popular apps, hottest apps and the very best apps there are in the Android Market.

The five new features of the Android Market are as follow:

Top app charts – You can find these charts more prominently on the left side navigation of the Android Market website and now includes – top new free, top new paid, and top grossing apps in addition to the top paid and top free apps

Editors’ Choice - The best Android apps as chosen by the Android Market staff covering games to productivity apps and more

Top Developers – Highest quality, most popular and most notable apps released by notable developers. These developers get a special icon on the Android Market website which will appear when the developer’s name is shown.

Related apps – The list of related apps which appears on the left side of the page is now group into two – apps frequently browsed by people who viewed a particular app and apps that users tend to install together with a particular app.

Trending apps – These are the list of apps that are quickly growing in terms of daily installs.


You can check out these new features by visiting the Android Market. Google says the same reorganized format will be rolled to the Android Market app on Android phones soon.
