GroupVox Android app turns your Android device into a Facebook walkie talkie
GroupVox is a fairly new app released on Google Play with one purpose – to turn your Android device into a walkie talkie of sorts using your Facebok group members as participants in the conversations. Yes, if you think that your Android is not capable of becoming a walkie talkie, well you can think again since the GroupVox app just made this possible.
GroupVox supports tête-à-tête voice conversations, group chats, and Push-to-Talk (PTT) with members of your Facebook groups and events. So to be able to use GroupVox, it’s required that you are a member of any Facebook group or you manage one for yourself.
The app works pretty simple as well. The moment you fire it up, you’ll be greeted by a clean window on your device with nothing but a message that “you have not chats.” To start a chat conversation, simply tap on the “+” icon at the upper right corner of your device’s screen display. The app will then display a new window listing the different groups where you are a member of. There’s also another option for Events and Friends. Once you’ve selected a particular Facebook group, you’ll be brough to a new screen which says “Conversation is Empty.” To start simply hold the bar at the bottom, hold it and then start talking. Your message will then be posted on the timeline of your group members.
Simple right? The app works over a data network or WiDi. The app also records messages and allows you to listen to it later. It even records voice message even when you’re offline.
Finally, GroupVox also has an iOS app and the beauty of it is that it supports cross-platform functionality. So, you can still use the app even if you’re friends or Facebook subscribers uses an iPhone.
GroupVox is available now as a free download from Google Play. And incase you’re interested to know, the app was developed by an 18-year old Android app developer.
