HTC Also Prepping Up an Android Tablet
Look who is joining the tablet PC wars? No other than HTC which if you may recall recently launched two new Android 2.2 Smartphones – the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z. And as we all know, HTC has been actively supporting the Android OS. So, it is not really surprising to know that the company is also planning to launch its own Android tablet. But what comes as a surprise is the rate by which HTC wants to come up with its Android tablet. Digitimes just reported that HTC has already contracted Pegatron Company to manufacture the HTC Android tablet PC.
Although not projected release date was revealed, the report however pointed out some specs and features of the HTC Android 2.2 tablet. These include – Nvidia Tegra 2 platform, multi-touch panel with 1280×720 resolution, 32GB SSD, 2GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. And since the HTC tablet will have Nvidia’s platform, it is expected that the tablet’s multimedia capabilities will be better than the iPad’s multimedia features. In addition, the HTC Android tablet will also have the full support for Google Chrome Web apps as well as the Android Market. Which means, it will be supporting the current crop of Android apps available right now.
Another important information given about the HTC Tablet is its projected market price – something around $789.75. Still more expensive than the iPad, but hey you’d be getting more powerful features anyway.
So, there. Are you excited about the HTC Tablet? Or would you prefer the Samsung Galaxy Tab?
