IM+ Android App Gets a Huge Feature Update
We received words from Shape Services, developer of the IM+ Instant Messaging app for Android informing us of the upcoming update to their app. For those who are unaware, IM+ is among most downloaded instant messaging app not only for Android but for other platforms as well. IM+ Android app is a pretty powerful app that lets stay connected to your friends, family and business contacts. It supports vaiour IM and chat platforms including Skype, MSN, Facebook Chat, AIM, Yahoo IM and more.
IM+ is available as a free, ad-supported version and PRO version which will cost you $9.99, minus the ads. The app is feature-rich as well with intuitive and stylish user interface that adjusts to your device’s display sizes, photo and audio files sending, full integration with your Android address books, support for multiple accounts, and other standard IM client features.
The update brings new features to the app which include the following:
- UI has been optimized for convenient use of IM+ on Android OS tablet computers
- Support of Android OS native “Share” feature.
- Select the text you would like to share in any app, press Share button and share it using IM+!
- IM+ widget allows to quickly change your status right from your Android home screen
- Typing notifications
- You may now upload your avatar right from IM+ (click on configured account in Accounts and select “Manager Avatar”)
- Group chats for AOL/AIM/iChat and ICQ
- Added support for Mail.Ru instant messaging service
- Options to select a different notification (sound/vibrate/LED) for active chat
- All chats are saved under Chats tab when IM+ is restarted/reconnected
- Battery usage optimization
The update is not yet showing up on the Android Market, but Shape Services promises that it will be available anytime today. So, keep an eye on the app updates on your devices if you have the previous version or get later when the new version is already out.
