Image Shows Motorola Droid 2 Running Android 2.2

There are a few main questions associated with the impending Motorola Droid 2 other than pricing and availability. For example, is the keyboard improved? Is it going to run Android 2.2 out of the box? Does it feature a similar MOTOBLUR skin to the Droid X? Will it be the next killer Android device on Verizon? Fortunately, I have an answer to most of the questions except for the last one.

According to a picture of the Motorola Droid 2 received by Droid-Life, the Motorola Droid 2 will launch with Android 2.2. The image above is a screenshot of the device displaying information about the phone. Under “Android Version” it says 2.2, which is an awesome sight. The person who is using the device mentions it runs the same MOTOBLUR skin as the Droid X and it features five screens and a similar notification system. Unfortunately, it features the same bloatware as the Droid X, meaning the phone will launch with BlockBuster app, 3G Mobile Hotspot, and the assortment of MOTOBLUR widgets. When will Verizon ever learn that 90% of all users do not want these apps; at the very least make each app removable.

The keyboard is supposedly revamped and the tipster went so far as to call it “phenomenal.” For me, the keyboard is the kicker, if the device has a great keyboard that messages quickly, I’m more likely to purchase it than the Motorola Droid X. It doesn’t look like the phone is equipped with a front facing camera, as the phone is the same as the original Droid in design.

Hopefully we’ll get a release date and price on this bad boy in the next couple of weeks.

About the Author

Currently, I live in the United States in the crowded, but enjoyable state of New Jersey. I first began blogging about technology in 2007, right on the precipice of the smartphone, netbook, and GPS boom. Not to mention Facebook and Twitter have started to become increasingly popular during this time period. In terms of Google Android, I have been privileged to test and review many different devices and among my favorites are the Samsung Epic 4G and the HTC Droid Incredible.
