Kickstarter Picks: GameTron 1000 from Mojo Bones
GameTron 1000 is a game within a game kind of like Inception, but with a big ol’ slot machine reel. The game is designed to where you’ll get a randomly generated experience by pushing a button, and whatever pops up on the reels is what you’ll get to play through. As you can see from the screenshot above, Gametron 1000’s reel takes care of it all from how the game is played to which enemies you’ll take on and everything in between. This quote from the developers sums it up better than I ever could…
“For example: the ‘falling’ genre has our hero plummeting in-front of a constantly scrolling background. Sub-genres will then be used to indicate the finer details of the game. Will you be fighting-off a troop of falling enemies in a twin-stick shooter (combat)? Or perhaps using the accelerometer to steer your falling hero through a maze of debris (avoidance)? Just two basic examples.”Yup, sounds pretty damned cool doesn’t it? Well that’s not all. If you generate a level you love you can store it in your library where it’s turned into a “virtual cartridge” named, and placed on a shelf in your virtual library. And still there’s more… You can send your favorite games to your friends and compete against them for high-scores. If you’re a high-score junkie you can also go for the top spot in the Game of the Month competition where you’ll battle it out against the best.
Now that you know about the game, here’s some of the cool swag you can get for backing it. Low level backers of GameTron 1000 can get things like backer certificates, digital downloads of the games artwork and music, and early access to the game as a beta tester. If you want to throw out the big bucks you can suggest playable characters, enemies, bosses, and backgrounds for the game, get your name in the credits or get signed swag from the dev team. There are plenty of levels to suit everyone’s budget, and lots of great rewards for those who choose to back the game.
As a Retro gamer, GameTron 1000 is a very exciting game that quickly caught my attention when I noticed its Kickstarter page. Needless to say I’m really, really looking forward to playing this game.
