Kill the Infected with REC – The Video Game for Android

Overview

Android games based off of movies can go either way, so I was surprised and a little apprehensive when I noticed [REC]- The Videogame had popped into the market. REC the game is based on the Spanish movie from director Jaume Balagueró, if you haven’t seen the original there’s a good chance you caught the US remake called Quarantine. Personally I enjoyed both, but this isn’t about the movie, it’s about [REC] The Game and here’s what we know so far…

[REC] The videogame takes is a first person shooter that puts you into the role of Angela Vidal and a G.E.O.S. soldier as they try to unravel the mysteries of the Medeiros Girl and the infected. The game gives you 27 missions where you’ll need to clear all the zombies, keep from getting infected, and most importantly keep filming. If you’ve seen the original [REC] or the remake you’ll know exactly what all of this means as the game seems to drop you right into the events of the movie.

Verdict

Games based on Movies can go either way, and usually suck to be perfectly honest. [REC]- The Videogame actually seems like an awesome idea, and it’s an “official” game so I’ve got high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to give it a run yet as it’s a big game (900+ megs) and I’m still downloading it as I type this. [REC] was a sick movie that has a lot of fans, and if the game turns out half as good as the movie it’s be pretty damned popular. I’ll let you know what I think of the game tomorrow after I’ve had a full day to play around with the infected. If you want to go ahead and give it a run you can find Castelao Pictures [REC] – The Videogame for $1.30 on Google Play.
