Got it yesterday afternoon and tried to activate it this morning. To activate, the program that starts at boot-up makes an automatic call but there’s an error…. The following automated message “You have dialed a number not available from your calling area, 034T (or 079T)”. Problem is the process is a 4-screen loop that you can’t get around.

Verizon Tech support was surprisingly unfamiliar with the Droid X. At one point, they said to me “Why can’t you get around the program and dial *228 to manually program the phone?” “Excuse me, Ma’m, Verizon isn’t my phone company, I have no idea why – Shouldn’t you know?!?”

An hour on the phone, and they want to ship me a replacement – but not overnight! It’s Tuesday, and with regular shipping I won’t have it until Friday. But the demo is Friday. Took me 20 minutes to get them to approve overnight.
