Motorola: Froyo for Droid X Coming Early September

For Android smartphone owners, you know how much it sucks having to wait for Android 2.2 to be available on your device. For the rest of us, waiting for Android 2.2 is kind of like waiting for Christmas — you know it’s going to come eventually, but you still can’t wait for it.

According to latest rumors, the Android 2.2 update for the Motorola Droid X was supposed to happen sometime in late August, but it looks like the Froyo update is slated to “early September.” In a response to a Corporate Email problem involving Exchange 2003, Matt from Motorola’s Support Forum said:

Some Droid X users are experiencing an issue using Exchange 2003 email. Though the email is arriving on the Droid X, no notifications are appearing. A fix for this will be included in the upgrade to Android 2.2 scheduled for deployment by early September.

Of course, this isn’t an official announcement from Motorola on the Froyo rollout, but it does come from a credible source. And in the end, late August and early September are phrases used interchangeably, so the previous rumor does have some truth to it.

About the Author

Currently, I live in the United States in the crowded, but enjoyable state of New Jersey. I first began blogging about technology in 2007, right on the precipice of the smartphone, netbook, and GPS boom. Not to mention Facebook and Twitter have started to become increasingly popular during this time period. In terms of Google Android, I have been privileged to test and review many different devices and among my favorites are the Samsung Epic 4G and the HTC Droid Incredible.
