Motorola Has Plans for a 2GHz Android Phone By The End of 2010

The Nexus One by HTC and the HTC Droid Incredible both boast of a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. If you ever tried out either phone, then you probably know how fast it is compared to other smartphones with a smaller processor. Motorola’s CEO, Sanjay Jha, decided to release a little information about the future of Motorola in terms of producing smartphones at the Executives Club of Chicago. His most important statement was about the possibility of a new Android smartphone by the end of 2010 featuring a 2GHz processor.

Many computers run on a 2GHz processor, so you can imagine how blazing fast a smartphone would operate with a 2GHz processor. Of course, such a powerful processor begs the question about battery life of the Android phone. Unfortunately, many top-end Android phones get bad reps when it comes to the battery life. Interestingly enough, however, Motorola plans to “incorporate everything that is technologically possible in a smartphone today.” If they do, perhaps battery life would not be such a big issue in a super smartphone.

Motorola typically signs with Verizon to sell their smartphones (as evidenced by the Motorola Droid, Motorola Devour, etc.) so it will be interesting to see if Verizon sells Motorola’s 2GHz packing smartphone. The most interesting part of this rumor is the time frame. It is hard to imagine such a powerful smartphone to be available by the end 2010, but the timing would coincide with the ever busy holiday rush.

About the Author

Currently, I live in the United States in the crowded, but enjoyable state of New Jersey. I first began blogging about technology in 2007, right on the precipice of the smartphone, netbook, and GPS boom. Not to mention Facebook and Twitter have started to become increasingly popular during this time period. In terms of Google Android, I have been privileged to test and review many different devices and among my favorites are the Samsung Epic 4G and the HTC Droid Incredible.
