Photo Sharing made Fun with Picsy for Android

Overview

There are a lot of Android games out there that use words as the basis for their gameplay, and Picsy from Grab is the latest to try it’s hand at the popular social word game genre. If you’re thinking it’s another Words with Friends knockoff you’d be wrong as Picsy uses Pictures and Words to ensure you’ll have a good time.

Picsy is a photo competition game of sorts where you’ll use pictures and words together to win rounds. When you first fire up the game (and make an account) you’re given the option to join others games or start your own. If you choose to start your own game you’re given a few words to choose from, and all you need to do is pick one to get the party started. Once you choose your word you can setup a few options like changing up the people you’ve invited into the game or setting the game to private or “group vote” where everyone will vote on the best pic instead of just you. Once everything’s setup you and your group can either select a picture already on your device or take a new one, and the best picture that matches the words wins according to the votes. There can be six players per game, and you’ll earn coins for submitting pictures and winning rounds. Those coins can be used to remove ads or buy premium words for around 200 coins a pop.

Verdict

I like to simplify things so to me Picsy is basically words with friends, but with Pictures and a lot more fun. It’s a new game so if you play random games like myself you may have some delays as the player base isn’t that large yet, but I’ve got a feeling once the words out this game will be big. I especially liked the fact you can play a private game which is great if you’ve got a group of friends that get a little wild with things. Overall Picsy is easy to use and quite a bit of fun if you dig social games and love taking pictures. You can checkout Grab’s Picsy for free on Google Play.
