Professor Layton to make his debut on Android

Whether you own a Nintendo DS or not, you’re quite likely to have heard the name of the game called Professor Layton. There have been several Professor Layton puzzle games released on to the portable DS console and up until now, the Nintendo DS has been the only way to play this captivating puzzle game. This is all set to change however as a spin off game is about to be released on to the Android platform. In the Android version of the game – entitled ‘Professor Layton: Century of the 7 Phantom Thieves’, we follow the games name sake character the professor himself as well as a secondary character called Luke. In the game you will track down cunning burglars that are causing mayhem all across the city of London.

The game was shown in Japanese magazine Famitsu and information surrounding the Android game is still quite scarce at the moment. A couple of snippets of information have become known about the game though and we do know that gamers will be able to exchange intelligence with other players, in order to aid them in chasing the thieves across London and catching them. Also, we know that during the course of the game, players will be awarded with items and costumes for their virtual in game avatar. As of now it is still unknown if the game will be a Japanese exclusive title on the Android platform or if it will see a global release. As a fan of the Professor Layton games and that genre of games generally, I for one am hoping that this title will be released outside of Japan. The game would make an excellent addition to the adventure based puzzle games that are already available on Google Play.

Professor Layton: Century of the 7 Phantom Thieves is likely to be released as a free game with in app purchases available, as is becoming increasingly more popular with newer game releases on the Android market.
