Quick Review: Phoenix Spirit Android Game

We received an advance copy of the new Android game called – Phoenix Spirit. The game just went live on the Android Market and you can download it now for $2. Developed by a Swedish mobile game developer, Phoenix Spirit can best be describe as an action exploration game with a dash of shooting game.

Previous games that would come to your mind the first time you play this game are Metroid, Castlevania and Aquaria. If those games ring a bell to you, well you’d enjoy Phoenix Spirit Android game. The game’s objective is simple as well – to uncover the cause of the disease plaguing the mother tree.

To do this objective, you are tasked to collect new abilities, cure diseases and collect hidden power-ups hidden within the game.

The game also has some shooting elements and flying. You control your character, using your Android phone’s accelerometer or thumb in guiding Spirit, the main character in exploring the forest.

Technically, the game environment was well thought of and carefully designed. The only gripe I have about is that the Spirit character is too small. Control is a bit hard to master but it’s not really a problem especially  after playing the game after several hours.

The game’s difficulty and challenge were also evenly balanced. It’s not too hard nor too easy to finish the game.

Overall, Phoenix Spirit is a pretty good Android game and well worth the price you have to pay for it.
