Report: HTC Droid Incredible To Receive Android 2.2 Starting August 18

On the Verizon network, the Motorola Droid and the Motorola Droid 2 already have Android 2.2, meaning the HTC Droid Incredible and the Motorola Droid X are the last two major smartphones without Froyo. In terms of other carriers, the HTC EVO 4G and the Google Nexus One remain the other two devices with Froyo. According to Mashable, Verizon sources confirmed to them that Verizon and HTC will begin to roll out Froyo to Droid Incredible users starting August 18.

In addition, Verizon is scheduled to complete the Android 2.2 roll out to Droid users on the 18th by issuing the final Adobe Flash 10.1 update. It makes sense for Verizon to commence the Android 2.2 update for Droid Incredible users after finishing the update for Droid users so there isn’t too much strain on the Verizon network. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if Verizon began the roll out for the Motorola Droid X shortly after all Droid Incredible users receive the update.

About the Author

Currently, I live in the United States in the crowded, but enjoyable state of New Jersey. I first began blogging about technology in 2007, right on the precipice of the smartphone, netbook, and GPS boom. Not to mention Facebook and Twitter have started to become increasingly popular during this time period. In terms of Google Android, I have been privileged to test and review many different devices and among my favorites are the Samsung Epic 4G and the HTC Droid Incredible.
