A Review of Pit Crew Combine for Android

Overview
If you’re a fan of racing, you’re not doubt familiar with the Pit Crew. These are the guys that take care of the cars during the races when they pull in for a Pit Stop. Redline Sports Marketing dropped a new game over the weekend that will let you be part of that process in Pit Crew Combine. It’s a game racing fans and non-fans alike can enjoy. I know this firsthand as I’ve never watched a Nascar race, but I’ve had a blast trying to beat the times set on Pit Crew Combine.
Gameplay
You’re pretty much thrown right into the action in any mode you choose, and even though you’re not racing it’s still all about speed. In the main mode “Pit Now” you’ll have to change both tires, and fill up two tanks of gas. You’ll need to loosen the lug nuts, jack the car up, change the tire, tighten up the lug nuts, then let the car down… then you get to do the same for the other side. You’ll also have to fill up 2 tanks of gas and can do so on either side of the car. All the work is done through touching/dragging and you’re going to have to do it fast.
Features
There are a couple of different modes of play in Pit Crew Combine with Pit Now, Skill Challenge, and local Multiplayer mode. Pit Now is the main game where you’ll change out everything just like the real pit crews do. Skill challenge lets you go for the best individual times for changing tires, jacking up/down the car, and gassing it up. Multiplayer mode splits the screen so you and a friend can go head to head from the same phone to see who’s the fastest. There are a few different cars to unlock with more coming soon, and a records section that keeps your high scores.
Verdict
Overall, I really enjoyed Pit Crew Combine, but there are a few areas that could use a little improvement. The touch controls of the game itself worked great, but I did have some issues hitting the pause button and occasionally dragging a wheel or gas hose over. The multiplayer mode is a bit tricky to pull off on one phone; an online multiplayer mode would really make this game great. That being said, it’s a different kind of game that’s quite a bit of fun, and it’s definitely a game that any Nascar or racing fan will love. There isn’t a free version available right now, but you can get the paid version for only .99 cents in the Android market.
