Quick Review – Fire and Dice for Android

Overview

If you’re a fan of dice games like Yatzee or Kismet you’re gonna’ dig a new one called Fire and Dice from Sky Parlor Studios. Fire and Dice puts a graphical approach on the dice games of old and you’ll use the combos you roll to help put out fires in a little town. Fire and Dice is a lot more than just a simple dice game though, it’s a game that requires strategy and will keep you busy for quite some time.

When you first fire up the game you’re presented with a city that has a fire breaking out and you’ll put it out by rolling combinations. Basically every time you roll you’re given dice with different icons for water, gas, ladders and trucks, when you hit the material you need you tap the dice to lock it in. Once you have all your resources locked in you click play and are given a fire truck loaded down with your supplies.

It takes a certain number of supplies to put out a fire and rescue people if they’re trapped inside. It will take 5 waters to put out a fire, 2 ladders to save someone, and 1 gallon of gas lets you move once city block; you’ll need to keep this in mind in regards to where the fire is located as you can only hold so many resources on your truck at one time. Once you’re actually done rolling you still have to get to the fire, save people, escort them back to the fire house and make sure the fires are out. New fires pop up after every round so you’re going to stay busy.

Verdict

Fire and Dice is a great take on the classic dice games and I’ve had a blast playing it so far. Once you learn the basics of rolling & keeping what you need the game gets pretty busy as you’ll have multiple fires popping out all over the city. The graphics are well done, and the interface of the game is a breeze to use as well. I’ve really got nothing but good things to say about Fire and Dice as it’s by far the funnest Dice game I’ve played on Android. There’s a free version you can try out or you can pick up the full version of Fire and Dice for $1.99.
