Scramble With Friends – Android Game Review
Gaming giant Zynga has had numerous hits with their popular social-based games, and they just added another one to their hit list with Scramble with Friends for Android. Scramble with Friends is a word mix-up game similar to Boggle or Scrabble, and as you might have guessed the gameplay is fast, furious, and a whole lotta’ fun.
If you’re not familiar with the game here’s how it goes. You’re given a scrambled board with letters and you’ll drag your finger across the letter tiles to make words. You can spell them upwards, backwards, diagonally, etc… with the only rule being that each letter must touch the previous letter in the word. You’ll want to find as many words as possible before the timer runs out at the end of each round, and the game ends after three two minute rounds. When you want to start a game you can choose from Facebook friends, people in your contact list, random opponents or you can search for a friend by user name. It will cost you 1 token to play a game; you’ll start out with around 16 and can buy more if you run out. If you don’t want to buy them they will regenerate, and I believe it takes around 20 minutes to get 1 token back. Personally, I feel this is a bit slow, and wish we we’re given the option to purchase the game outright instead of relying solely on the token setup.
Scramble with Friends is a fun game that I’m sure I’ll play from time to time, but not as much as I would if I could buy it outright sans tokens. It’s not a deal breaker by any means, but it is nice to have options. It’s free, but ad supported which isn’t a big deal if you’ve played any of Zynga’s other games that are setup the same way. If you enjoy games like boggle, scrabble or social-based word games you’ll definitely want to pick up Scramble with Friends. You can pick up Zynga’s Scramble with Friends for free on Google Play.
