Sinister Planet Android App Gets Updates

Still remember the Android space-shooter Sinister Planet? Well, this great Android app has just been updated with new features that makes the game even better. In case you haven’t downloaded and played the game yet, allow me to give you a brief refresher on what the game is all about.
As previously mentioned, Sinister Planet is a space shooter that can be described as a mixture of other popular space shooters, including Asteroids, Galaga and others. The game’s objective is pretty simple – shoot down as many enemy alien crafts as possible before these alien crafts destroy your own. Be sure to keep an eye on the radar to keep track with enemy movements. See the example gameplay video below.
First off you’ll notice a huge looming planet in the backdrop. This grows larger as you progress the waves and move toward it. Once you reach the fifth wave, you are transported to the planet surface where you have to destroy the silos, which will result in the planet destruction. Then you move onto the next planet, there’s 5 in total the final planet being the ‘Sinister’ planet in the title.
Once you completed a planet you’ll have the option to start from that point on the start menu.
Before upgrades would appear when shooting the asteroids. Now, you have to collect cash during the wave by shooting the asteroids and collecting gold asteroids gems. After you finish each wave you’ll have the option to cash these gems in for upgrades. Some of the upgrades include: extra firepower, speed, shields, ‘orbs’ which are double or triple your guns, or turrets which turn the game into a dual stick shooter – the firebutton becomes a directional stick.
You can also now get achievements for certain feats, like completing an entire wave without being hit.The game has always ran very smoothly for me, but there have been many speed improvements to help make things even smoother.
Verdict: Sinister Planet has is my favorite astroids type game. The updates make game play even better, and more addictive. Also, the controls work really great on multi-touch phones. You should get many hours of gameplay out of this great game.
