Rumor: Google in Talks with Carphone UK for the Nexus Two Android Phone
We certainly didn’t expect this to happen, if it really is happening. For awhile we thought that Google has already thrown out the white towel when it comes to entering the consumer mobile phone market and will just focus its efforts towards the Android platform. But, we could be wrong if this rumors about the Google Nexus Two is true.
The news was broke out by City AM, saying that Google is in talks with Carphone Warehouse of UK to release the “second Google-branded mobile phone.” Said Google phone will be called the Google Nexus Two and will be out in the UK market just in time for Christmas. Additionally, Carphone Warehouse will have sole distributorship rights of the said Google phone.
City Am cited an industry source in saying - “It looks like Google is experimenting with the future of its mobile model in the UK. It tried releasing through a single carrier, now it is trying a single retailer.”
Now, here’s the juicer part of the news, said Google Nexus Two phone will be running on Android’s upcoming Gingerbread OS, and it looks like another phone manufacturer is being eyed to produce the Nexus Two. Rumors are strong that it’s going to be Samsung this time, replacing HTC which manufactured the Nexus One.
So, what do you think? Is Google coming out with another Google-branded phone?
