Rumor: Verizon May Drop the Motorola Droid 2 in Favor of a World Edition Droid 2
The Motorola Droid 2 triumphantly launched August 12 on Verizon Wireless as the successor to the Motorola Droid. Recently, there have been rumors circulating that Verizon Wireless is going to launch a world edition of the Droid 2, essentially meaning owners could use the Droid 2 overseas without any problems. Naturally such a phone appeals to the constant traveler, but for Americans who stay in the United States, a world phone isn’t necessary. In any event, BGR is reporting a rumor that Verizon Wireless may stop selling the Droid 2 and sell only the unannounced world edition smartphone.
In fact, Verizon may sell the world phone Droid 2 for the same price of $199, which is certain to frustrate Verizon Wireless customers who purchased the Droid 2 between now and August 12. Of course, all this is mere speculation at this point in time, but if Verizon does launch the world edition of the Droid 2, I would not be surprised to see Verizon stop selling the Droid 2 only after two months.
