Samsung Becomes the No.1 Android Phone Seller in the US
For awhile I thought HTC is the leading Android phone provider in the U.S., but I was wrong. According to research firm Gartner, it’s not HTC but Samsung who is leading the mobile manufacturers offering Android smart phones in terms of sales figures. According to Gartner, Samsung got 32.1% market share of the U.S. Android smartphone market in Q3 2010 based on retail figures.
And guess which Samsung smartphone is bring most of these Android sales? – Yes, you guessed it right – the Samsung Galaxy S mobile phone series. Well, Samsung has to thank U.S. mobile carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, U.S. Cellular and Cellular South for distributing these Samsung Android phones.
Interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy S portfolio has been selling pretty well despite the fact that it is not preloaded with Android 2.2 yet. Although its Android 2.1 (Eclair) OS can be updated to Android 2.2 manually, it’s still is quite surprising that users don’t really mind the Android OS’ versions after all. Anyway, the Samsung Galaxy S will be updated to Android 2.2 OS anytime soon, anyway.
Of course, there are other features of the Samsung Galaxy S portfolio which is causing its wide acceptance. These include a 4-inch Super AMOLED display screen, 1GHz Hummingbird Application processor, Samsung Media Hub and TV programming download service.
