Samsung Nexus S Rumored By Best Buy And Pictures Surface
Earlier today, Best Buy added a new phone to their website that was promptly removed. Interestingly enough, the new phone was the Samsung Nexus S (or the fabled Nexus 2, whose rumors seem to have subsided as of late). The Nexus S is slated as a “Pure Google” phone created by Samsung. Pure Google simply implies it is without any additional carrier app bundling, and in this case, it should run a clean version of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
The Nexus S is also said to launch with T-Mobile and be sold only at Best Buy. It would be weird for Google to market this phone with only Best Buy, so perhaps there is a misunderstanding there and it simply means Best Buy will be one of the main sellers. However, the fact that it is slated to launch with T-Mobile is another surprise, but that is definitely a rumor at this point. Naturally Best Buy was quick to remove the unannounced information, yet the image above is lasting proof of Best Buy’s mistake.
Just hours ago, Engadget published a few images of what they claim to be the Samsung Nexus S. The Nexus S is confirmed to run Gingerbread and shows a front facing camera — as expected. There is a good chance that the Nexus S and Gingerbread will be announced simultaneously by Google. Needless to say, we’ll keep an eye on any developments, but folks, get ready because something big could be launching very soon.
