Samsung: One Million Galaxy Tab Units Already Sold
Even though the Samsung Galaxy Tab is a pricey tablet running on an OS claimed to not be ready for use with tablets, the Galaxy Tab has exceeded Samsung’s expectations as one million units have already been sold in just about two months. Before the Samsung Galaxy Tab launched, Samsung was hoping to sell a million units by the end of the year, which is a lofty goal in it self. However, fueled by the Holiday season, the Galaxy Tab running Android 2.2 has already sold that number around the world, prompting Samsung to up its expectation to one and a half million units by the end of 2010.
Certainly having the Galaxy Tab available across five carriers in the United States helps with sale numbers, but that doesn’t take away from Samsung’s immense success with the Galaxy Tab. It will be interesting to see how many units are sold between now and December 31, as I imagine more people will buy it as gifts. Also, if the Wi-Fi only version of the Galaxy Tab appears soon, that could certainly aid sales.
