Sony Ericsson Announces The New Xperia ray and Xperia active, Both Feature Android 2.3
Sony Ericsson announced two new Android smartphones today that will most likely launch in Q3 of 2011 in “globally selected markets.” The new Android 2.3 devices include the Xperia ray and the Xperia active.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia ray features a 3.3 inch touch screen displayed, powered by a 1GHz processor, runs Android 2.3, features a 8.1MP rear facing camera, a front facing VGA camera, and is only 9.4mm thick. The Xperia ray is a compact, sleek device that is sure to please anyone looking to carry around something that will fit easily in the pocket, as opposed to a smartphone with a large (4.0 inch plus) screen.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia active is a ruggedized smartphone that is built to withstand the elements (such as dust and rain). It features a 3 inch touch screen display, 1GHz processor, a 5MP camera, and it features ANT+ which monitors your heart rate and pulse to keep you aware of your personal training.
The Xperia ray will probably launch as a budget-friendly device with mid-range specs, while the Xperia active will launch as a smartphone built for athletes who like to work out everyday, or individuals who want a tough Android smartphone.
