Sony Ericsson replaces the Android Market’s My Apps to its Own Channel
If you own a Sony Ericsson Android phone, go fire up the Android Market app on your phone and find out if something has changed. If you’ve been checking the Android Market often, you would remember that the three tabs on the upper portion of the Android Market’s main screen in your phone used to be labeled as Apps, Games, and My Apps. But now, My Apps is now replaced by “Sony Ericsson.” According to Sony Ericsson, this should appear to most of the Android smartphones.
The Sony Ericsson channel on the Android Market will be used by the company to push forward many of its Android-related services. Some of the initial plans for the said channel include – recommendations for finding the best Android games and apps that suits well with Sony Ericsson smartphone, find origina apps from Sony Ericsson such as Timescape plugins and more, exclusive Android games and Android apps offerings and a channel for helping Sony Ericsson’s partner developers in promoting their Android apps and games. To access the previous “My Apps” tab, you can still do so by pressing the Menu key on your Android smartphone.
Incidentally, in case you’re interested to know – this is the first time that a mobile mnaufacturer was able to do this customized feature of the Android Market. So, what do you think? Will you let the Sony Ericsson channel stay as one of the three tabs on the Android Market or you prefer the old tabs?
