Spotify brings free streaming radio to its Android app

Spotify today has pushed an update to its Android app, bringing in free radio streaming for U.S. users. However, being a free app, the radio streaming feature will be ad-supported so expect to listen to ads as you tune-in to your favorite Internet radio stations on your Android devices.

Aside from letting you listen to free streaming radio programs, Spotify for Android now also lets you create your own radio stations based upon your playlists, album or even on a single song. You can do this by saving up songs that comes up while you listen and then listen back to that song later on using any of your Android devices. Additionally, you can also add a thumbs up or (down) feature to the radio stations you’ve created. .

Also when giving a song the “thumbs up or down,” Spotify Android app remembers this and use it to fine tune its song recommendation feature. This means that the more you use Spotify app, the more it gets “in tune” with your music preferences.

Spotify is available now as a free download from Google Play. While the app maybe free, at some point in time, you may get annoyed by the ads that comes out as you use the app. So, to remedy this, it is advisable the you subscribe to a Premium Spotify account.
