Star Command set to have a soft launch in January
Unless you’ve been living under a rock chances are you’ve heard of Star Command the Space Sim of Kickstarter fame. The game has hit Kickstarter not once, but twice and guess what… it’s still not out. As the year’s coming to an end I thought I’d do a little digging and here’s what we found out.
War Balloon Games is now promising that Star Command will be out in January, but in a “limited release”. They’re going to do a soft-launch in a few Western Territories, and stated that a wide release is dependent on how the soft launches go and how many bugs need to be squashed. When the game finally shows up you’ll get 17 missions and 10 races with lots of ships and classes. Not much info I know, but that’s all we’ve got right now. We’re not sure if they’re will be free updates once the game is released, but it has been hinted at in the past and we’re thinking it would be a wise move considering how many backers are a little irritated at how things have gone so far.
Star Command could be the greatest sim ever released or go down as a huge Kickstarter fiasco depending on how things play out. Hopefully we’ll see the game sooner than later, but I’m not holding my breath as I don’t like passing out. We’ll keep you informed when we know more, until then you can salivate over the teaser trailer below.
