The Top New Android Games of the Week – February 18, 2013
Last week saw lots of slick releases from creatures that fling themselves through blocks to shotgun wielding rednecks and giant battle turtles. There’s a little something for everyone so and we hope you enjoy our picks for the Top New Android Games of the Week…
1. Yumby Smash
Yumby Smash is a smashing new game that lets you blast through blocks to take down your enemies. It’s a physics-flinger, but it’s unlike anything you’ve played as you try and take out Colonel Crumpet and the terrifying Gobbler Hoards. If you’re looking to have some physics-based fun you can pick up Playgearz Yumby Smash for free or jump straight into the Pro version for $2.99.
Redneck Revenge is the story of Red the Redneck who’s decided to strike back against the zombies and their brain eating ways. This little Zombie shooter is full of humor and it’s bloody enough to satisfy even the most hardcore of horror fans. No free version is available, but you get a whole lotta’ game for only $0.99.
Like Minesweeper games? If so you’ll definitely want to check out Zombie Minesweeper from Octo Industries. The game gives you over 30 zombie (and mine) filled levels to go through as well as some brain hungry birds. It’s a cool updated twist on the classic Minesweeper game and it’ll only set you back a buck.
We briefly talked about this spooky adventure game earlier in the week and with good reason as its one of the creepier puzzle/adventure games you’re likely to come across. After spending a few days with the game it’s say to say it’s a game you’ll want to check out if you enjoy games in the vein of Myst. A full review is coming towards the end of the week, and episode 2 is already in the works. You can pick up Glitch Games Forever Lost: Episode 1 for $2.33.
Grudger is an endless runner / platform game hybrid that puts you to work delivering parcels through a cool steampunk word. Luckily, Grudger knows parkour so you’ll be able to bounce off walls and reverse your direction if you get in to a jam. Needless to say it’s a blast, and it’s also on sale right now for $1.50 on Google Play.
Bobbing is a fast-paced physics game that has you control gravity (and colors) as you try to make it around a turntable. It’s as unforgiving as it is fun and it’s one of the coolest games we’ve played in weeks. There’s a 20 level free version of Bobbing you can check out and the full version will only set you back $0.99 if you like what you see.
7. Alien Breed
If you’re looking to do some Retro gaming this week Alien Breed from Team 17 Digital is a game you’ll want to check out. Originally released in 1991 the game has been revamped for mobiles so players new and old can enjoy this classic game. There’s no demo available at this time, but the full version can be yours for only $4.99.
8. Take Me Home
Take Me Home is the tale of Neelo, an alien that’s fallen to earth. You’ll have to help him get home which isn’t that easy considering he’s in a bubble as he can’t breathe earth’s oxygen. The game has a cute style that should appeal to all ages and there are around 96 levels to try and work your way through. Toca Toca Games & Apps Take Me Home is free to download on Google Play.
Shellrazer is a side scrolling shooter that takes place on the back of a giant turtle. You’ll have to shoot down goblins in their steampunk contraptions and you’ll get to do it through 75 levels in the full version of the game. Unfortunately, the game is locked for Galaxy S3 users due to glitches, but seems to work on “most” other devices. The developers are working on ironing out the kinks, and we’ll have a full review when everything’s working like it should. If you want to give it a shot you try out the first 10 levels of Slick Entertainment’s Shellrazer for free.
