Verizon: Special Early Upgrade Applies To Droid 2, Introduces “Digits”
In case you have a Verizon Wireless contract up for renewal sometime between now and December 31, 2010, you are eligible to upgrade to any Verizon smartphone including the Motorola Droid 2. This is a smart move by Verizon because it will encourage users to upgrade earlier and lock down to another two year commitment in which a $29.99 data package is mandatory. Personally, if my contract was up sometime this year, I’d be inclined to drop the $199 on a smartphone such as the Incredible, Droid X, or Droid 2.
Here is the exact wording from the Verizon press release announcing the Motorola Droid 2:
In addition, current Verizon Wireless customers who have contracts ending by December 31, 2010, can upgrade to any smartphone, including DROID 2, without penalty.
Moving on with the Motorola Droid 2 for a minute, Verizon Wireless recently uploaded a promotional video which shows off the Motorola Droid 2′s revamped keyboard. You can watch the 33 second clip dubbed “Digits” below. Expect a heavy media promotion from Verizon for the Motorola Droid 2, especially as we get closer to the R2-D2 special edition launch.
