Verizon Wireless Officially Announces The HTC Thunderbolt for $250

Just as I predicted would happen if the March 17th rumored launch date for the HTC Thunderbolt proved true, Verizon Wireless officially announced their first 4G LTE smartphone today. As a result of the numerous rumors, leaks, and whisperings, the press release didn’t really offer any new information, but confirmed previous rumors.

First things first, the HTC Thunderbolt will be available for purchase starting March 17th and it will be available for $249.99 on a two year contract. In terms of data plan, Verizon customers can enjoy unlimited LTE data usage for $29.99 a month, but this is expected to end when Verizon makes its move towards tiered data.

In addition, if you purchase the Thunderbolt between now and May 15, the WiFi Mobile Hotspot service will be included for free. This option allows you to share your 3G or 4G data with eight different devices. Such a service normally costs $20 a month.

So, who’s interested in the first 4G smartphone on Verizon Wireless and the first to feature a front facing camera?

About the Author

Currently, I live in the United States in the crowded, but enjoyable state of New Jersey. I first began blogging about technology in 2007, right on the precipice of the smartphone, netbook, and GPS boom. Not to mention Facebook and Twitter have started to become increasingly popular during this time period. In terms of Google Android, I have been privileged to test and review many different devices and among my favorites are the Samsung Epic 4G and the HTC Droid Incredible.
