Vizio Joins the Android Bandwagon with New Via Tablet and Smartphone

Vizio, a company more popularly known for their affordably-priced flat-panel TV sets is joining the Android bandwagon by unveiling not just an Android phone but an Android tablet at well. The Android phone to be called Via Phone and the Android tablet to be called Via Tablet will both be displayed during the CES 2011, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The Vizio Via smartphone will feature a 4-inch screen, front-facing camera, and a rear-facing 5MP camera with video capture capability. The Vizio Via Tablet on the other hand will feature an 8-inch display screen, Wi-Fi, 3 speakers, and front-facing camera. Both Vizio Android devices will be released this summer at still unknown prices. But knowing cheap Vizio prices most of its products, we won’t be surprised if the Vizio Via Tablet will pose a strong challenge to the iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab and other tablets that are about to be released this year.

One thing is for sure, it’s going to be a great year for the Android OS. So, which side are you on?
