Will Verizon Launch a World Phone in 2011?
How cool would it be for Verizon to launch an Android smartphone that can work internationally? It would definitely be handy for Verizon customers who travel abroad a lot, and with Android gaining popularity, why not launch a strong, international Android phone? AndroidGuys received a few pictures of an HTC slider that doubles as a CDMA and GSM smartphone. The most notable Android slider phones on the Verizon network include the LG Ally, Motorola Droid, and the soon-to-be-announced Motorola Droid 2, so it’s interesting to see Verizon launch a slider phone from HTC.
Expect the device to launch with Android 2.2 on board, a 1.2GHz processor, and a 4 inch touch screen. Unfortunately, the device is rumored to launch in 2011, and none of these specs are set in stone. I’m sure we’ll hear more details in the form of leaks and rumors regarding the nameless HTC Android smartphone.
