Way back in 1997 a little game called SimTower came out, and I lost weeks months of my free time trying to build up my tower. I always loved that game as I know a lot of other folks did, and now thanks to Mobage I’ve got a similar game to play for Android. Tiny Tower is a brand new Tower building game that lets you build and manage a tiny tower along with all the businesses and “bitizens” that inhabit it.

Yesterday we mentioned Kairosoft had dropped two games into the market with World Cruise Story and another game that hasn’t been translated yet. I knew it had a space theme, and after digging around a bit it seems as if the new game will be Astro Expedition! Kairosofts games have taken us to some unlikely places, and soon we’ll get to blast off into outer space with Astro Expedition.
An already awesome day for gamers just got a little better with the long awaited release of Dead on Arrival from N3V Games. Anytime a new Zombie game drops I have to check it out, so I was thrilled to see Dead on Arrival pop up in the market this afternoon. Today is a great day for Android gamers as Kariosoft has released not one, but two new Android games into the market. Only one game is in English, but if things follow the usual course the Japanese game will be translated into English within a month. Either way, fans should prepare themselves to lose a lot of free time with World Cruise Story.
Not a week goes by that there’s not a new building game in the market, and last week brought a new one from Glue Mobile called Toy Village. Toy Village puts you in charge of rebuilding a tiny toy town after a destructive Tornado demolished it. You’ll have to rebuild things to get the toys back, and you’ll get plenty to work with. We all know that Pirates love treasure, and there are plenty of Pirate games in the Android market. Rejected Games have put a new twist on the Pirate game with Island Fortress where you won’t play a Pirate, but you’ll defend against them while protecting your treasure.
A lot of people have probably never heard of the Giana Sisters, and I was in that group myself until my memory was refreshed by the new game. The original Giana Sisters came out in 1987 on several of the older systems including the Commodore 64, and briefly reappeared in 2005 on mobiles. Princess Punt is a quirky little Android game from GungHo Games that involves punting Heroes and bombs at your enemies. It’s an odd premise to say the least, but one that works as it sucks you in with its gameplay & graphics. This is definitely one of those cases of “Don’t let the name fool ya” as a lot of people might see the words Princess Punt and skip the game. MovieCat is a quirky new Android trivia game that combines Movies with cats. Now I’ve never been a huge fan of cats (other than the lolcats) as they’re pretty sneaky, and I’ve just always been a dog guy. Trivia on the other hand, I’m pretty good so I was intrigued to see what Movie Cat was all about. What I found was a great little Trivia game that uses Cats in a very cool way. By the time I had finished a few rounds and got my first “Cat Scene” I was hooked.

Occasionally, an Android app comes out that I take a personal interest in and that’s happened this week as Ancestry.com has finally released the first Beta version of their official app. Ancestry.com is the leading Genealogy site on the net, and they have a MASSIVE wealth of information available to help you trace you roots. I’ve been using Ancestry.com for years so I was thrilled to see they actually have an app now even if it’s just a Beta.
