A Review of Shaky Towers for Android

Hyperbees has made some great games for Android, and they just added another one to their impressive roster with Shaky Tower. At first I thought it was just another block stacking game, but once I got around to playing it, I was pleasantly surprised. You’ll have to stack blocks to reach certain goals all while using your phones tilt controls. Sometimes you’ll need to keep the blocks stacked, while other times you’ll need to “roll” the blocks or bounce them. Cut the Rope for Android – The Review

Last week we got Burn the Rope, and this week we got another Rope game ported over to Android called Cut the Rope. While both games deal with rope, there are some big differences between the two games. Don’t think that Cut the Rope is just you’re average “slicing” game, because there’s a whole lot more to it than that. ZeptoLab’s brings a fun & challenging game to the table that has A LOT of levels, and some very slick gameplay. I was pleasantly surprised by the new twists each new “Box” brings, and it’s one of those games that everyone will be able to play and enjoy.

Be a Rapper with Straight Spittin for Android

Ever want to be a superstar Rapper? Me neither, but now you can be one with an Android app called Straight’ Spittin. What is Straight Spittin you ask? Well, it’s a new game put out by Appalachian Apps and endorsed by Rah Digga that puts you into the rap game. Not literally, as you’re not going to get and bling, but at least you’ll be able to put your flows out there for the world to hear. Galaxy on Fire 2 – The Review

Galaxy on Fire 2 is a space based RPG/shooter that a lot of folks have been waiting for to arrive, and now that it has, it definitely doesn’t disappoint. It easily has the best graphics I’ve seen for an Android game and it’s also a large game, so you should be able to play for a while. Unfortunately, I couldn’t run it my Captivate, but was lucky enough to have a brother with the Droid X2, so I still got to spend some quality time with the game. Bug Village for Android – The Review

Glu Mobile has put out some very popular games, and their newest one called Bug Village is no exception. Bug Village put’s you in control of a colony of ants, and you’ll use those ants to build up your village. It’s about more than ants though; you’ll also interact with a few bees, ladybugs, and the occasional stink bug! Fans of town building games will surely enjoy this, and it helps that it’s all done with great looking 3D graphics.

Blast off with No Gravity for Android

What’s better than an awesome space based shooter, with great graphics? One with an immersive storyline, lots of missions…and great graphics. You get all that and more with No Gravity from Realtech VR. It was originally a PSP game, and they did a good job bringing it over to Android. No Gravity also supports a slew of different devices, whereas another great looking space game (Galaxy on Fire) does not. Iron Wars for Android – The Review

Iron Wars is a great new 3D shooter from Tap Mobile. It’s a unique shooter as well that lets you zip around in a little iron ball while blasting away at the enemy. Save some Battery Life with Smart Wifi for Android

Battery Life is one of the biggest issues with smartphones today, and your phone’s WiFi is one of those battery draining culprits. Developers S4BB came out with an Android application that will help you save some of that precious battery life with Smart WiFi. It works by combining information from cell towers and WiFi hotspots to turn you WiFi off when it’s not needed, as WiFi can cause you to lose quite a bit of battery life depending on your setup.

Splode for Android – The Review

I stumbled across an interesting game over the weekend called Splode from Escalation Studios. It’s a chain reaction style game where you drop magical bean sprouts to set off a chain reaction amongst the Splodes. The world is colorless, until the chain reactions start and then the levels pop with color. It has some pretty slick graphics, and the soundtrack fits it perfectly. A Full Review of HBO GO for Android

I’ve tried to fight reviewing this app, as it’s been done to death in the short time it’s been on the market. I’ve never had an app on my phone that I’ve used more than the HBO GO App; if you have the service and still haven’t’ picked the app up yet, you’re really missing out. My love affair with HBO started in the 80s when they had Fraggle Rock, and as my teens hit I moved on to great shows like “Dream On”, and “The Larry Sanders Show.” Nickelodeon took a chunk out of my life for awhile with their early 90s hits, but then I was back to HBO with The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Wire, and Deadwood. All those shows are gone now, but HBO still continues to put out some awesome shows. I’ve recently added two more of their shows to my all-time favorites list with Eastbound & Down, and Game of Thrones. Thanks to the HBO GO app, I can now watch almost any show I want, whenever I want… can you say awesome??

Hit the Ice with Hockey Fights Pro for Android

I’ve always been a massive sports fan, and I love seeing the players get rough during a game. Hockey has more fights than any other sport, and now there’s a game that lets you skip the hockey part and go straight to the throw down. Hockey Fights Pro is a new Android game from Ratrod Studio, the same people that brought us the slick gamed Drift Mania Championship. Plants vs. Zombies for Android – The Review

Popcap stayed true to their word and finally released the popular game Plants vs. Zombies in the wee hours of the morning. I actually stayed up last night as I knew it was coming, but like a kid waiting for Santa, I just didn’t make it.
