Acer Iconia B1 a rumored 99$ tablet – gets reviewed early

by On January 6, 2013

Last we talked about the rumored Acer Iconia B1 tab it was back in December. And we were actually really excited about the prospect of a 99$ tablet. The word was that Acer is planning to announce the cheap tablet at CES next week. Little did Acer know that a Bulgarian website won’t wait to review the tablet. The website creatively named Tablet.bg has already gotten hold of a review unit and has without any wastage of time posted a full-fledged review online. The said review not only discusses all the aspects of the Acer Iconia B1 tablet but also includes detailed photos too. The pictures show the Acer Iconia B1 tablet showcased from various angles. The specs are not all that surprising and bear the markings of a true budget device, solidifying our speculation about the 99$ price tag. Acer Iconia B1 tablet also has almost the same specs which we reported a while back. A 7 inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, MediaTek 8317 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor and 512 MB of RAM. Along with 8 GB of internal storage and a 2 MP front facing camera. The Acer Iconia B1 will be running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which gives it an edge over other Chinese budget tablets which rarely go above ginger bread. Also there will not be a sim card slot so there won’t be any previously rumored network/cellular connectivity. The specs are like we said not that impressive and are seemingly looking to be worth the 99$ price. We won’t see Acer Iconia B1 challenging the big boys like Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindlefire anytime soon though, the specs are not powerful enough to even start a fight. But if the rumors are true and Acer Iconia B1 tablet goes for sub 100$ price, we will have a very well designed budget tablet to gift our kids. Source: Tablet.bg (translated page)
