alcatel one touch idolAlcatel may not be the brand that you’d seriously consider when purchasing an Android phone but the price of its One Touch Idol may entice you to buy it. The Alcatel One Touch Idol is now up for pre-order from the Alcatel website for $299. Cheap, right? But don’t even think that this smartphone is underpowered. On the contrary, it packs some pretty good specs under its hood. The Alcatel One Touch Idol features a 4.7-inch display (540×960), 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 2MP front-facing camera, 8MP rear camera, microSD, and 4G on-board storage. The handset runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Alcatel site is promoting this with the Iron Man movie teaser. I’m not really sure whether the phone was used in the movie though. Was it? According to Alcatel, the One Touch Idol weighs a mere 110 grams and comes with a durable, scratch-resistant glass display. It’s also loaded with anti-virus software and splash-proof water protection. This ensures that the device can withstand everyday wear-and-tear. The Alcaltel One Touch Idol is certainly gunning for the mid-range smartphone market share and is not posing to compete with Android smartphone heavy weights such as the Galaxy S4, HTC One and other advanced Android phones. It’s banking on price and decent specs to gather consumers who are looking for a new Android smartphone with specs and features to keep them interested with the Android ecosphere. All those being said, you may now pre-order  the Alcatel One Touch Idol for $299.It is estimated to ship by June 15, 2013.
