Amazon's Free App of the Day – Fruit Ninja Puss in Boots

by On December 27, 2011

Overview

Fans of Shrek and Fruit Ninja are in for a treat today as Amazon’s Free App of the Day is Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots from Halfbrick Studios. It’s that same fruit slicing game that we all know and love, but with twist thanks to Dreamworks lil’ amigo Puss in Boots.

Gameplay

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past several years and haven’t heard of Puss in Boots or Fruit Ninja here’s a rundown of the game. Fruit Ninja lets you slice, dice and chop fruit with your finger by making a swiping/slashing gesture on the screen. Basically, slice any piece of fruit you see but don’t hit the bombs or you’ll lose a life. You’ll also lose a life if you miss a falling fruit in Desperado mode so yeah, the game can be tough but it’s super-addictive. Gamers will get two modes of play with Desperado and Bandito mode; Desperado mode is the regular version of the game where you get three lives to try and reach the highest score while Bandito mode has you doing a series of mini-games. Halfbrick has also included some nice Puss in Boots themed extras with 7 new blades to unlock including the beanstalk & catclaw blades along with 4 unlockable backgrounds.

Verdict

Fruit Ninja was a blast to play when it first graced the screen of my Captivate, and since that time nothing’s changed as it’s just as fun now as it was then.  Throwing Puss in Boots into the mix was a great move as the whole slashing style of the game works great with that character and will probably introduce the game to a new series of fans. Fruit Ninja Puss in Boots fires on all cylinders and it honestly remended me of why I liked Fruit Ninja in the first place… it’s a whole lotta’ fun. This one’s great for kids or adults and I highly recommend that everyone check it out. You can head on over to the Amazon market and pick up Fruit Ninja Puss in Boots for free today or for $0.99 cents tomorrow.
