American railroad corporation Amtrak have traveled wholeheartedly into the future and have joined the Android market by releasing their own Amtrak Android app on to the Google Play store. By using the new official Amtrak app, rail passengers are able to plan out their rail journeys, purchase rail tickets, check train times and schedule information, change pre booked seating reservations or even change pre-defined planned journeys, all from running the app on an Android smartphone or a tablet running on the Android platform. The app also ties in with the Google Maps system on Android and allows users to navigate their way to and from the railway stations easily by giving accurate directions. The Amtrak app also allows regular commuters on their train network to access and manage their own Amtrak Guest Rewards account via the app itself. By purchasing tickets using this particular application, Android users will simply receive an e-ticket on to their device that will allow them to show their smartphone or tablet when requested by Amtrak staff, rather than use a paper ticket. Amtrak are seemingly aiming to make traveling on one of their 300 trains, across 46 US states and 3 Canadian provinces, whilst using the latest Android powered technology as easy as possible for their customers. The Amtrak app is available to download over on the Google Play store now and is a free download. By using this Android app, there are no excuses for missing that all important train in the future!
