angry.birdsEveryone knows how popular the Angry Birds franchise is, and if you don’t you will soon. Sony is bringing an Angry Birds Movie into theaters on July 1, 2016. Sony won the rights to put the birds on the silver screen, and as you’d expect, it’s going to be in 3-D. Little is known about the Angry Birds Movie thus far, but you can expect to have plenty of birds thrown in your face thanks to 3-D. The film will be produced by Rovio Entertainment, and producer John Cohen’s (Despicable Me) name has been mentioned as being attached to the project. The movie will probably pull from the ongoing cartoon series “Angry Birds Toons” which started in March, but things could change quite a bit over the next 3 years. Some video game movies are great like Tomb Raider, and a few of the Resident Evil films while others… well, not so much. Anyone remember House of the Dead or that Super Mario Bros. flick with Dennis Hopper as King Koopa? I think it’s pretty safe to say that the Angry Birds Movie isn’t going to win any Oscars, but it could be a good one for the kids if handled properly. It will be interesting to see whether people still adore the Angry Birds 3 years from now as well. Source – Wired
