Angry Birds Rio to be Released Exclusively Via the Amazon App Store

Rovio, the developers of the highly popular game Angry Birds just announced that the next version of their game – Angry Birds Rio will debut not on the usual Android Market but rather on the upcoming Amazon Appstore. Yes, you read it right folks, don’t go out looking for Angry Birds in the Android Market because the Amazon Appstore has sealed the exclusive rights to distribute this game once Rovio has finalized its release. Angry Birds Rio is a highly anticipated new version of the game specifically because it will feature the animated stars of the upcoming motion picture entitled RIO. In addition, the release Angry Birds RIO will also conincide with the availability of ad-free versions of Angry Birds and Angry Birds Seasons, two of most popular versions of the game via the Amazon Appstore as well. In case you’re interested to know, Angry Birds RIO’s storyline goes something like this. The original Angry Birds are kidnapped and taken to the magical city of RIO where they eventually escape their captors and are now out to save their friends. The stars of the upcoming movie are two rare macaws named Blu and Jewel. Angry Birds RIO the movie will be released on April 15, 2011. Hopefully by then, the Angry Birds Rio Android game will be available as well. The game will feature 60 levels initially with more contents to follow via in-app updates. via Rovio Blog
