AT&T Announces The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, Will Launch Sept. 18th for $49.99

Today, AT&T announced the availability and pricing information for the upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.  Several weeks ago, AT&T announced it would carry the first PlayStation certified smartphone that already launched on Verizon Wireless. From the press release, we learned that AT&T plans to launch the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play on September 18th for the ultra-affordable price of $49.99 on a two year contract.  By comparison, Verizon Wireless charges its customers $99 on a two year contract for the same spec’d Xperia Play. In terms of specs, the Xperia Play boasts Android 2.3, a single-core 1GHz processor, a 4 inch touch screen display, slider joystick and controls, 5MP rear facing camera, and a VGA front facing camera.  It even comes with seven pre-loaded game titles including:

  • Dungeon Defenders™ Second Wave by Trendy Entertainment
  • Asphalt™ 6 Adrenaline by Gameloft
  • Star Battalion by Gameloft
  • Madden NFL™ 11 by Electronic Arts
  • The Sims™ 3 by Electronic Arts
  • Tower Bloxx™: My City by Digital Chocolate
  • Crash Bandicoot® by SCEA/Naughty Dog/Universal
Again, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play can be yours starting September 18th for $49.99 with AT&T.
